Written Statement About the Program (short history and mission statement)
The New Glarus-Monticello Youth Football Organization was created in 2007 to provide youth football for the young students of New Glarus and Monticello School Districts. Our goal is to provide a safe, positive learning environment for players and parents. We will teach the players the proper techniques that apply to our system as they progress through the program. We expect that all coaches, players and fans will conduct themselves in a respectful and positive manner. We want to instill a sense of pride in our program and our communities. In addition, we will teach our players a vast array of life skills that they can carry with them beyond the game of football.
Program History-
New Glarus and Monticello have offered youth football since the 1996 season. The program was originally the idea of former Head Coach Duane Schober. The program originally offered just 7 th and 8 th grade football and the program was run through the school and had no conference or league affiliation. Following the 2006 season, the New Glarus-Monticello Youth Football Organization was formed and football was offered to grades 5-8 and the program was a member of the Dane County League. The organization was originally co-chaired by Gary Steiner and Melanie Judd. In 2008, the organization added 4 th grade and a committee was created to oversee the operations of the organization. In 2010, the organization installed the complete varsity system and each level of the program was running the varsity system. In addition, the 2010 season brought the first NGM Youth Football Coaching Clinic, which helped teach new coaches how to teach football the “NGM Way.”
